The lighting of butter lamps represents the protection from darkness in the Buddhist faith, banishing ignorance and replacing it with wisdom and light.
In this exclusive guided experience, you will be invited to embrace the spiritual significance of the butter lamp ritual, forging a deeper connection to yourself and the natural world around you. This guided experience lasts between one and two hours, dependant on the temple’s location. We will provide all necessary equipment including a lighting stick. This activity is suitable for all ages and health conditions, and is an accessible experience that invites everyone to connect with Bhutanese culture and enjoy a moment of peaceful reflection.
Please note: when visiting a temple or monastery, guests should kindly remove their shoes and hat, dress modestly – covering shoulders and knees — and maintain a quiet demeanour.
