Welcome to Lavadhoo, the tiny uninhabited island a short boat ride from COMO Maalifushi, where all that’s required is a swimsuit and a willingness to leave the real world behind.
On a visit to Lavadhoo, COMO Maalifushi’s private islet in the Maldives, spend a day as a luxury castaway. Experience the peace of complete seclusion, of walking barefoot by the ocean knowing you won’t meet another soul.
Located next door to our main island of Maalifushi, the tiny island is just one kilometre long, the waters surrounding this idyllic spot patrolled by dolphins and whale sharks. There are no formalities here, no need to pack anything other than your swimsuit and a willingness to leave the real world behind.
You reach the island by private boat — a five-minute sail across a deep channel with tropical fish chasing the current.
As your boat approaches Lavadhoo’s shoreline dotted with swaying palms, you’ll spot a white canopy fluttering amongst the green: welcome to your castaway base camp, complete with day beds, chilled drinks and snacks. From here, the day is yours to spend entirely as you wish, without obligation or timetable.
Let your curiosity lead you, swimming alongside sea turtles in the aquamarine. Explore the island’s shoreline, find your perfect spot on the silk-soft sand to sunbathe, and lose yourself in the sensation that you are the only people in the world.
At lunch, a picnic of COMO favourites is served with hearty, healthful salads and mezze plates inspired by local flavours. In the evening, you’ll dine by the ocean as the sun sets, enjoying the day’s catch of barbecued seafood alongside a glass of chilled Champagne.
As night descends, sink into the cushions for your own candlelit cinema under the stars, before retiring to your luxury canvas bedroom on the beach. Gauze drapes billow gently in the breeze, the night quiet except for the ripple of waves meeting the beach.
The next morning, watch the sun rise without the need to move from bed, then savour a freshly delivered breakfast in your castaway paradise before boarding the dhoni boat back to COMO Maalifushi. Don’t worry, you don’t have to go back to the real world just yet.
Castaway adventures to Lavadhoo can include family picnics, romantic dining experiences and sunset cruises followed by a night under the stars. Ask our COMO Maalifushi team to organise it for you.
